Raising Academic Achievement Program

SW-Event-Sep2

Motivation to inspire Company works to inspire change and growth in young people in schools in and around London. The idea is to re-engage young people who are currently disengaged, in order to break down barriers that restrict their learning. The RAAP programme will equip young people with the tools to make better choices for their futures, in terms of various skills that encourage lifelong learning.
My background is as an educationalist within (post 16) further education sector. My employment history stems from the criminal justice system, where I worked for over 13 years, both with ex-offenders and young offenders.

Young people are exposed to the different social and economic problems that can affect their lives and community, especially those from ethnic minority backgrounds. Issues such as unemployment, basic life skills, lack of confidence and self –esteem, literacy and numeracy, teen pregnancy, crime, drugs and gang culture and issues with identity are just some of the pressing issues that affect our young people today. Intervention is inevitable in order for individuals to achieve the skills for economic sustainability in order to make better life choices for the future.

Here at Motivation to inspire we are passionate about inspiring and encouraging change through education and re-engaging disaffected young people in schools and local communities. We are confident that our raising academic achievement and performance in young people will equip them with the necessary tools to make better life choices; as well as, give them a sense of direction and fulfilment in terms of what they can achieve in their lives. We believe that education is the key and that working in partnership with and within schools and community cohesion programmes, motivation, education and empowerment will reduce the risk of unemployment, offending, substance abuse, and anti-social behaviour. As a result young people will feel more capable of making sound and focused decisions that will impact on their life chances of success.

We are able to re-engage young people so that they focus on their strengths and ability, and live up to their full potential; Thus creating an opportunity for both formal and informal learning.

The RAAP 10 week’s program will provide young people with skills, knowledge, experience and behaviour (SKEB) to increase their positive energy to the maximum and develop an awareness of the opportunities which surround them. Our programs encourage young people to dig deep within themselves and apply the strategies and knowledge learnt to live up to their full potential. This will enable them to get focused and develop a positive mental attitude to learning and life as a whole. In turn, will aid in raising their academic performance and encourage social mobility for their future.

The RAAP Programme is an emotional-wellbeing and confidence-influencing youth development programme run over 10 weeks within schools. As a result, this helps to break down the barriers that restrict learning; developing self-control, building resilience, developing positive relationships, self-discipline and respecting one another. Our exceptional empowerment specialist is committed to enhancing the development of personal, learning and thinking skills with the aim of actively supporting young people in becoming self-managers, creative thinkers, reflective learners, problem-solvers, and team workers, independent and effective communicators. We encourage and incorporating a variety of hands-on activities which are relevant and engaging and will ultimately leads them to improve on existing abilities and skills.

The Raising Academic Achievement and Performance program (RAAP) is a 10-week educational program, which provides young people who find it difficult to engage with the necessary tools, to develop self-control, build resilience, develop positive relationships, self-discipline and respect for all; which enhances and raises confidence and self-esteem.

The purpose is to empower young participants to achieve their full potential, which will enable them to make informed personal choices to help them identify the options available to them when they leave school.

The program is designed to be part of regular day-to-day operations within the schools PHSE curriculum program, exploring issues such as self-awareness, managing, feelings, discovering motivation, improving social skills, learning hard times /stress management, gratitude, choices, self-esteem and positive relationships.

Each program provides over 10 teaching hours, through a combination of group discussion, role-play, group exercises and practical work sheets, including a monitoring and evaluation process at the start and end of the program. We also include a follow-up mentoring process which focuses on life and social skills. The highly trained and experienced Victoria Griffith, an empowerment specialist within the field of social science, organisational coaching and mentoring, teaches all sessions.

We believe that we can engage students and provide opportunities for every young person to learn and achieve their fullest potential. We consistently identify the opportunities that will encourage the engagement and learning potential of each young person.

The young people are typically aged between 11-17 years-old and currently participating in secondary education such as special school, PRU, SEN children and post 16. The Young people who wish to develop themselves will have to demonstrate a commitment to the programme, especially those who maybe at at-risk of exclusion or offending.

Each young person participating in the program should also be able to show a willingness to learn and a desire for self-development with an emphasis of developing self-control, self-discipline, resilience and respect for all.

All our staff have passed enhanced DBS checks; we undertake thorough past employer and personal reference checks and qualification checks. All staff are trained in safeguarding, child protection, the reporting, and recording of disclosures, and effective risk assessment and management. Our aim is to effectively safeguard both the young people and staff.

Also included is our one day Intense Discovery Day for young people to start thinking and focusing on their preferred future.
